February 19 –March 12, 2021

PROJECT SPACE 340 LOCATED IN THE ARCOS BUILDING, 340 CENTRAL AVE.

PS340 is proud to present Everything Must Go, a collection of works reflecting on the complexities of domestic objects and spaces, and our fleeting interactions within them. Featuring works by Ringling College of Art + Design Fine Art Seniors Musa Kunene, Emily Heiler, José Linares, Athena Nugent, Alé Salaman and Ro Maiti, the exhibition presents these intimate relationships through a visual collage of moments captured within the various mediums of sculpture, painting, drawing and film.

In exploring the theme of home, Musa Kunene merges animal anatomy such as cow and goat skulls with human elements to depict Swazi and Xhosa shamanistic and ritual practices. Emily Heiler questions the concept of home and how household objects function through a female lens. José Linares uses his unfamiliarity with different spaces to create artworks that speak about alienation and normality. Athena Nugent portrays flora in their various states of vibrancy and decay. Alé Salamán’s work is informed by an intimate look on relationships between the self through portraiture of distorted bodies within the digital landscape. Ro Maiti’s narrative raises the question of what roles technology plays in our lives and the continual development of our psychology and perception of the world.
