CURTIS ANDERSON: THE STORY I’LL TELL - THE MIXTAPE
MARCH 1 — July 31, 2021
PATRICIA THOMPSON GALLERY

In The Story I’ll Tell: The Mixtape, photographer Curtis Anderson grapples with the intersectionality of being Black and Christian. He poses a simple question with a complicated answer: How do I exist in my skin and as a follower of Jesus?
Living in a confusing and frustrating time, Anderson examines that intersection in an attempt to resolve the tension and find rest. Through several mini-portraiture series, this exhibition highlights nationalism, race, identity, unity and life in Jesus Christ.
Curtis Anderson is a portrait photographer hailing from Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design with a degree in Advertising Design. Curtis’s photographs reflect the “as is” moments in life while trying to frame a narrative around the subject.
