ABOUT:
The Fine Arts Department of Ringling College of Art + Design is pleased to present IT’S NOT A PHASE (MOM!) at Crossley Gallery.

IT'S NOT A PHASE (MOM) explores the raw intensity of youth—an electrifying mix of rebellion, nostalgia, and self-discovery. This exhibition at Crossley Gallery immerses viewers into the world of teenage angst and childhood memories, inviting them to step back into the turbulent, bittersweet days of growing up.

Like a middle school journal, IT'S NOT A PHASE (MOM) captures pivotal moments that defined formative years: passionate defiance, the awkward quest for identity, and the battle between longing for independence and craving acceptance. This exhibition embodies the tension and thrill of adolescence, celebrating both the highs and lows that shape us.

We invite viewers to reconnect with their pubescent rites of passage, revisit their youthful hopes and frustrations, and consider how those memories continue to shape them today. These works offer a moment of reflection, a reminder that these memories are far more than “just a phase.”
