16th Annual Basch Glass Exhibition
January 13-March 28, 2025
Richard and Barbara Basch Gallery
ABOUT:
Discover the beauty, fragility, and resilience of the human form interpreted through glass in this year’s exhibition, Human Form: A Body of Work. This compelling group show presents stunning glass artworks from the acclaimed collection of Dr. Richard and Barbara Basch, on view at the scenic campus of Ringling College of Art and Design. Through diverse processes and techniques, artists explore the physical and emotional dimensions of humanity, capturing gestures, expressions, and moments that reveal the essence of the human experience.
Human Form: A Body of Work celebrates the timeless and transformative qualities of glass, displaying both classic techniques and pioneering innovations in glass artistry. From delicate, life-like forms to bold, abstract interpretations, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through a wide array of styles, each piece inviting contemplation of how the human body can be seen, felt, and reimagined in this luminous medium.
As visitors move through the exhibition, they’ll witness the interplay of light and color within each work, transforming not only the pieces but also the surrounding space. This experience promises to leave guests with a renewed appreciation for glass as a vessel of artistic expression, where human form and imagination meet.
The exhibition features extraordinary examples of art glass and unique, masterful commissions by some of the world’s greatest glass artists, including Lucio Bubacco, Dale Chihuly, Laura Donefer, Davide Salvadore, and many others.
This exhibition is made possible in part by support from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, The Exchange, and WUSF 89.7.
